Hospice care is a type of health care that focuses on the palliation of a terminally ill patient's pain and symptoms and attending to their emotional and spiritual needs at the end of life. Hospice care prioritizes comfort and quality of life by reducing pain and suffering.
Hospice is a Medicare benefit! We will provide an interdisciplinary group led by a Doctor, all nursing needs, a CNA as needed, MSW services, spiritual counseling, and bereavement services as necessary. Stoneridge also provides all hospice related medication, all durable medical equipment, and all hospice related supplies.
We support the patient and the family to ensure there is proper communication, so everyone understands the benefits of transition to Hospice Care.

Anyone with a serious illness who doctors think has a short time to live — generally 6 months or less —usually qualifies for hospice care. For Medicare to pay for hospice care, patients must stop medical treatment intended to cure or control their illness.
Despite the benefits of using hospice care, many people wait to receive hospice care until the final weeks or days of life. It’s important to talk with your doctor about your illness and how your disease is progressing. Starting hospice early may be able to provide months of meaningful care and quality time with loved ones.
Hospice care can provide a range of different services depending on your symptoms and end of life care wishes. These services include, but are not limited to, emotional and spiritual support for the person and their family, relief of symptoms and pain, help with advance care planning, therapy services, like physical or occupational therapy, and much more.
Hospice can be provided in many settings — a private home, nursing home, assisted living facility, or in a hospital. Many people choose to receive hospice care at home so their friends and family can visit as they wish.
Studies have shown that when a person enrolls in hospice care they are more likely to have increased family satisfaction and better symptom and pain management. They are also less likely to undergo tests or be given medication they don’t need or want.
Quite simply, doctors recommend hospice because they want patients to get all of the care they need. When curative treatment is no longer working or the patient decides they no longer wish to pursue curative treatment, this is when doctors recommend hospice to ensure the patient’s symptoms are managed.
After a hospice diagnosis, Stoneridge Hospice helps improve the quality of the patient's remaining time at home, where 86% of Americans say they want to be. Instead of the patient cycling in and out of the hospital or going back and forth between doctor's appointment, hospice focuses on comfort and quality of life .
Hospice helps relieve stress on families and caretakers so they can focus on creating memories and just being there for the patient. Patients and families get spiritual, emotional and psychological counseling, regardless of faith. Hospice will improve quality of life for the patient and loved ones, making the most of their time together.
